True Names

For sheer fun value, you can’t really match this atlas, which claims to give the “true names” of various places around the world.  Based off of etymology in various languages, it renders familiar places, like the Bahamas and London, in very interesting ways.  The Bahamas, for instance, are “Lowsea Islands”.  London is “Hillfort”.  Cuba is “Place to Find Gold”.  And there are lots more.  It’s really very interesting, as well as rather cute.  You can see some of the details online, but they also have analog maps for sale.  I’m thinking about asking for this for my birthday.
